On the inside looking out…

I’ve finished reading Outsiders Within (edited by Dave Higgins: https://davidjhiggins.wordpress.com/), the anthology that has my story, “Everything New is Old Again,” in it.

Outsiders Within is a compelling selection of stories (inspired by Lovecraftian tales). Read the introduction by Dave Higgins: https://davidjhiggins.wordpress.com/2020/12/21/outsiders-within-introduction/.

So, yeah, just lost in thought over the stories in the collection. Definitely a week of introspection and looking-out-of-windows while I muse and speculative over things past, present, and future.

But I have my rescued cats to take my mind off too many thought-wanderings, and they rescue me in return from too much outsider-ness. Looking for a pet companion of your own? Check out petfinder.com, and remember, mature/senior cats need homes too, and they are a lot more mellow and calm than a kitten! (And always get your pet spayed/neutered to help combat the dreaded “kitten season”–one of the most heartbreaking times for any animal shelter.) Plus, there’s also usually a plethora of other pets that need homes!

So, how about you all? How are you dealing with the summer heat?

(Here’s some tips for helping pets cope with the heat: https://katzenworld.co.uk/2021/06/15/five-ways-to-keep-your-furry-friends-safe-during-the-heatwave/ )

Remember, backyard birds/wildlife can use a helping hand, too. Adding a source of fresh, circulating water can be beneficial!

    1. That’s wonderful! I miss winter soooo much! (I shoulda just stayed in Ireland et al when I was over there! Ha!) Thanks for sharing a little Irish weather that (or so I imagine) befits the “nightmare and storm” realm here! *laughs*

    1. Aww, thanks! The little stinkers! They were rescued ferals. Moon Pie took about eight months to socialize. She seems to have had a hard time out on the cruel, cold streets, and at the hands of people, formerly. Potato is a scaredy cat, and Moon Pie is fierce and feisty!
