No longer road-tripping, but still ramblin’…

Granted, driving back and forth multiple times and through multiple states as part of this move could hardly be considered “road tripping”, but despite the taxing ordeal, I find myself missing being on the road with just the bare minimum of stuffy stuff. And with nothing much else to do except rest and watch cable, of course!

As such, I’m having some trouble getting back into some sort of productive-as-all-get-out routine. The heat of summer makes a handy scapegoat, I suppose, so I’ll just blame that.

I have managed to knock out some book reviews for books that have their own rambling adventures in store for the reader (or kind of).

Check them out here:

And, in the meantime, I’ll be off trying to find ways to be less slothful.

But I have managed to resurrect my theme interviews (such as the Spooky Six) over at Horror Tree as well.

Oh, and I found this post from a fellow blogger to be awesome (and awesomely funny!), so I just thought I’d share.

How are you faring with this summer (if it’s summer where you are)?

    1. Well, I generally write content for Horror Tree, but I have had short stories published in anthologies and journals, so I have to get back into the “habit” of writing short stories and submitting them. I did update my submission calendar, at least. (That was the easy part!) I have a full-length manuscript that I need to get some sensitivity readers for, and then I’ll tackle the revisions on that. School starts soon, so I’ll also be taking my courses for my SMBA. *smiles*

  1. Well, you sure have had a lot going on, so I’m not surprised you’re not back to your “productive-as-all-get-out” ways yet. Keyword yet. Once you rest up and cool off and have a chance to breathe and center…watch out! lol Glad to see this post from you!

  2. How well I recall the turmoil of relocating, especially to a new state or even another corner of the same one. It seemed to take a full year to land upon the things beneath the surface that make a place home — favorite restaurants, stores, natural sites, kindred spirits, galleries, and music. And then there are all of the new names to memorize at work or the classroom. Writing projects got put on hold for much of that, too.
This last move rather defied that, but I am “retired” and this is a small city where I was able to plug in rather quickly. Best of all, it served as a writer’s retreat for the most part.
That said, four years later, with my partner up here and family visits, I still haven’t settled on a “routine,” try as I might.
Let whatever emerges organically be your guide.

My summer is going well overall. The most challenging aspect was kicking it off with surgery for prostate cancer. A lot of time has gone into recovery from that, but I’m starting to feel myself again and doing my best to get into the flow of reading and writing. I likely will be back to the ol’ night job in a little over two weeks.
