On the Election Results in the United States

To the United States,

You have voted to retain a state of ignorance–one which the planet cannot afford and which will continue to destroy the planet and its amazingly diverse life forms.

You have voted simply to ensure you can continue to express your hatred and intolerance for the diversity of life on this planet, and to engage in the violent and retributive acts that accompany said hatred. And you will eschew both integrity and common sense in dogged pursuit of that hatred.

You have voted for a individual whose motivation to run for president was pure self interest; a person who has no moral center, a person who is not only guided by self interest, but also of greed and who will not hesitate to exploit each and every one of you to maintain their bottom line and to rule with unchecked power.

Through all of the clear evidence about what sort of person Trump was, I held onto a last bit of faith that reason and ethical values would win out, and now there is only unequivocal certainty that the United States, when presented with a candidate that spoke with reason, with justice, with honour, and much more besides, has chosen the exact opposite.

As a result, the political climate in the United States has become denigrated to an unbelievably low standard that is more representative of a toddler throwing a temper tantrum, except those involved have not only the power of a presidency, but the warmongering tools to put their rage into effect on a global stage. It would be some sort of joke, except it is not even remotely funny that this criminal…this unhinged madman…has once again managed to con the general public to obtain dictatorship levels of power.

On this morning of the election, nowhere feels safe.

On this morning of the election, although it’s been a long time coming, it feels like the beginning of the end.

I’ll wrap this up by saying thank you, Kamala Harris, for your bravery and strength in running for the presidency of the United States, and I still have the tiniest bit of hope that good will win out…or at least common sense…

What a dark day.

  1. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you say, Willow Croft. It is a scary time to be in America. Wondering if I will even have any income soon, living on social security. At least I am not of child bearing age. I feel so sorry for women today! Here we go on paying the taxes for the very wealthy with the burden always on the lower and middle classes. He loves having his way paid by us! And he laughs all the way! It is so unfathomable to me that so many supposed Americans could even consider casting a vote for someone like him. There is no way I could call this being Mr. President. Perhaps Mr. Buy Anything you Want! It is a very sad day for the United States of America..one that I am sure our enemies are relishing. Canada is sounding like a good option today.

    1. I know, I think I am stepping up on my efforts to add Canada to my long-term plans (or maybe even short term!). The retail store I work at has locations in Canada….hmm! Let me know if you put together a caravan of Canadian-bound peeps!

  2. Well said, Willow. The multitude of feelings about this election are overwhelming. Especially because, as my cousin put it, “he’s been handed the keys to the kingdom.” Supreme Court on his side. Senate. I assume the House is now red too. (I’m being an ostrich and refusing to watch any news.)

Basically, this isn’t something we’ll come back from in 4 years time with another election. There will be some major event (like terrorist, possibly even a false flag type one), if not major shakeups with our laws, that will keep that party in power from here on out.

That said, I’d love to be proven wrong about that come 2028, but I doubt I will be.

Essentially, it’s RIP America. Some of us understood that. Now a whole lot of people will suffer even worse than they’d imagined, and there will be needless death and chaos thanks to the policies Project 2025 aims to implement. America won’t get any smarter under this administration either, so the ignorance will only surge.

And by the time the people who voted for him realize that, it will be too late.

Again, I hate being wrong about things, but I’d LOVE to be wrong about my views.

    Hugs and solidarity to you!!!!
