“Running Over the Same Old Ground…”

(Cue up Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”…)

Okay, while I’m taking it out of context a bit, I have been stuck in a bit of a loop mentally and emotionally and just trying to figure out a plan for the next few months, and not coming up with very much.

But at the same time, while it feels like I’m not accomplishing very much or being very upward-productive, I have been completing a few things on my to-do list, and backburning some other things. I’m exploring options like FlexJobs (anybody have any experience with them?) to bring in more income.

It does feel a little stuck-in-place, though, as a lot of my progress has been internal, and not readily visible or quantifiable.

I’m getting there, or so I hope, but it’s a very emotional and confusing time, amidst trying to do my small part in the fight against fascism/authoritarianism taking over the United States.

I’ve still managed to contribute to the Horror Tree site when I can. If you want some fictional horror/spec fic to retreat into, check out my interviews and book reviews over there:

I’d love to know what you all are doing to stay safe, and ways you all are fighting the good fight. Share in the comments below…

Until next time…

To a Wonderful Winter Season (and Whatnot)!

Hey everyone!

I know I’ve been MIA a bit in our blog world, but I just wanted to hop on and wish you all a fabulous winter season!

If you’re in need of some winter cheer, check out my horrorscopes for December!

Goodbye, Summer Blues–Hello, Fiery Autumn!

Well, if Walmart’s seasonal schedule is anything to go by, it was already Autumn (and Halloween!) three weeks ago. Not only did the Halloween stuff start appearing, but also winter clothing, which was very disorienting as the temperatures were still reaching up into the 90s.

Cooler temps have arrived over the past week, but I’m still feeling sluggish and unmotivated to do very much (including keeping up with my blog-reading) except for hanging out with my cats when I’m not working at the day job.

Trying to catch up some today on blogs, but I at least managed to create my horrorscopes and tarot readings for September over at Horror Tree! Hope you find some inspiration or guidance!

Let’s escape the heat into our zodiacal-determined magical academy!

June 2024 Horrorscopes and more!

The move day is looming!

If I pull this off with zero dollars, it will be a feat, I tell ya!

Anyway, that’s all very dull…but what’s not dull are the horrorscopes and tarot card readings for June!

And I did a couple of book reviews over at Horror Tree as well!

I miss reading all the blogs so here’s hoping I’ll be in Southern Illinois for long enough to catch my breath at least.

Okay, I was too exhausted to find the rest of the individual links, but here’s a link to a whole bunch of good reviews (mine, and others).

Hope you all have a great summer!

That’s One Dark, Gloomy Spring!

I realized the other day that I have been so preoccupied with things like, you know, money and bills and moving on a shoestring budget that I had completely let reading you all’s blogs fall completely off my radar.

But I imagine you won’t hold it against me as I am seriously trying to pull off a move with nonexistent funds.

Wish me luck!

In any case, I hope you all are still out there reading, and I hope you enjoy this week’s tarot cards for inspiration and May’s horrorscopes!

(I’ve narrowed it down to two places, although I had an inquiring phone call from a potential employer with some leads that I’m hoping against hope come about–because it sounds like a dream come true! *crosses fingers*)

I hope all is well with you, and I hope you have some great summer activities planned!

Punch in 2024 with a “24-Hour” Book Review!

I kicked off 2024 with a new job…teaching!

Between that and working towards not one, but two, college degrees, and keeping my business going and blogging and (trying to) write, it does feel like I’m putting in 24-hour shifts.

Speaking of 24-hour shifts, I ironically reviewed a book titled Twenty-Four-Hour Shift: Dark Tales from on and off the Clock by Cecilia Kennedy and put out by Dark Winter Press.

The short stories are perfect for reading while you’re on break from work!

Hope you get to read lots of great books in 2024!

Staging One’s Own Demise…Time to Exit Stage Left!

It’s Autumn, finally, here! It went from 98/100 degrees to a frost advisory and frost on my car this morning!

There’s no better time to head indoors and see a play…or even better, star in one!

Check out my spotlight-grabbing horoscopes I’m presenting for October! https://horrortree.com/october-2023-horrorscopes-how-youll-die-in-a-theatre/

And check out my even more award-winning (well, the book probably is, anyway) review of The Dead Take the A Train: https://horrortree.com/epeolatry-book-review-the-dead-take-the-a-train-by-cassandra-khaw-and-richard-kadrey/.

(Because you’ll need something terrifying to read as you take the train home from the show, right?)

It’s back to school we go!

Even if you’re not actually going back to school, you can make believe you’ll be in attendance with the best and the brightest…or the most evil and depraved!

Learn what your fate will be at the posh private academy of your dreams…

I’m still trying to find ways to flee the state of Kansas to a safer, supportive, inclusive locale, but it’s slow going.

What’s going good (or so I think) is my first week(s) of my latest academic endeavor! The assignments are quite challenging, but fascinating.

Aside from that, things are pretty dreary in my part of the world, but I’d love to hear about all ya’ll’s quirky adventures.

Beware of Snapdragons!

Having a wee garden was always a maybe-someday wish…so far, it’s not to be, but it did inspire this week’s horoscopes over at Horror Tree.

Hopefully you’ll dig up some inspiration for either your garden, or your manuscripts, with these fun posts!

And, if you’re like me, and have a “brown thumb” when it comes to growing things, here’s March’s “Tarot Cards for Writing Inspiration”.
