  1. We’re pretty famous at our dance studio for not wearing costumes for the Halloween party and other themed events, and are equally famous for epically lazy “costumes” when we do bother to try to meet the theme. I think the two most notorious lazy costumes I’ve done are the ones where, for a Vegas-themed party, I printed out the pages of a self-defense catalog where saps were listed and billed myself as a “Blackjack Dealer”, and another time I printed out a couple of ID badges and my wife and I pinned them to our shirts and went as “Off-Duty Ghostbusters”.

    1. Ha, good ideas though! I love autumn but rarely dress up in costume. However, I did find a mask at goodwill and I’m going as one of the monsters (the vampire_ from Scooby Doo as they’ve set a Scooby Doo costume theme. I went to this meeting on Sunday and one of my fellow horror peeps suggested I make a sign with the episode they appeared in…which I’m going to do…it was a great suggestion, I think… 🙂

    1. Yes, I’ve finished it! I’ve gone off the rails a bit with my organization and getting stuff done list (yes, my Virgo side is horrified) and it’s weird but I think it’s something to do with the weather. It went into fall/fall temps, then back to blazing hot summer temps (think 98 degrees F) and back into fall and then fall/summer/fall/summer, and this time it seems like fall is here to stay. But it was really messing with me, as strange as that sounds. I’m all discombobulated! Forgive me! I’m trying to get back on track!

    1. Oh, I loved it. It reminded me a little of the book I did for Charles French’s blog theme (The Underground Literary Society) and also a spooky version of A.S. Byatt’s Possession, which is my all-time favourite book!

    1. Ah, yes, I’ll be working too! I have a starfleet uniform, but the workplace is doing a trunk something or other that I don’t really get but maybe has something to do with passing out candy to customers??? Anyway they are doing a Scooby Doo theme, so I’m cobbling together a costume faintly evocative of one of the Scooby Doo monsters…the vampire…ha! It’s so weird, I’m used to cosplay standards and I’m fretting over the accuracy of it when there’s really no need. Anyway, that was a bit of a ramble so I’m signing off now!

      1. A Scooby-Doo theme would be fun. Back when I had more hair, my wife and I went to a party as Shaggy and Velma. My wife made a really cute Scooby costume for our, then, young daughter. More recently, I have seen that you can actually get rubber masks in the form of those worn by the Scooby villains.

  2. OMG…another awesome round of horoscopes! Way to once again up your game by combining literature and music like that!

What’s your Halloween costume? I will probably wear one that I rotate each year. OR I may dress up in this bubble wrap suit I bought for Wayne. I thought he’d think it’s funny, but he just wants his spy vs spy costume back. (I gave it away because he complained the mask was awful to wear and he’d never wear it again. He told me to donate it. He has conveniently forgotten about that, though.) lol

BTW: Happy Spooky Season back to you!!!!

    1. Well, I generally just default to my Harry Potter costume but it’s packed up, and work is doing a “trunk” (? something to do with passing out candy…maybe? I don’t really know) event and our costume theme is Scooby Doo. I had to do my research as to costume options. I can’t afford a costume but Goodwill saved the day! (I love thrift stores!) and they had the PERFECT solution. I’m going as one of the Scooby Doo monsters, and I found a classic vampire mask and a cape at the store so I’ll be going as the Vampire (aka Big Bob Oakley aka “the Actor”). Yay!

Maybe you all can find like inspiration in the thrift stores near you!

      Good luck!

  3. Hey!!!! Is your job doing a “trunk or treat” kind of event?! If so, how fun!!! AND your costume sounds AMAZING!!!! Even better because it’s an original.

Wayne is a huge FAN of Goodwill. He needed new shorts and that’s where he went to look. He ended up finding like 4 or 5 new pairs…walked out for $25. Basically what 1 pair might’ve cost him! lol

And do you know, every year I want to do a theme of some kind. (As far as decorating the yard.) I never do. I can never think of one. Then I’m reading your comment about your theme at work. WTH have I been thinking all these years? Scooby Doo and Haunted Mansion are my two favorite things ever. Why did I never think about either before now???!!!!

Well, thanks to you, next year I already know what I want to do. I will have a whole year to create a doombuggy. I will put skeletons in it and create a scene from the mansion for them to pass through. That is my goal.

Unless the election sucks. Then I won’t have a house to decorate for Halloween next year. I will probably be in an apartment in another country. I guess I could still decorate the inside at least…

    Ugh. APOLOGIES for the ramble!!!

    1. OMG if you do Scooby Doo this year, take lots of pictures and do share! Same for next year with the Haunted Mansion! (Trunk or treat? That sounds correct…but what is it? LOL!) I am so stressed about the election even though it’s out of my control (I voted already) mainly because I can’t afford to leave the US if a certain candidate gets elected. I’m just having to get into the mindset that there is no other possibility than that of Harris getting elected. But it’s a tense time.

      1. LOL! Scooby won’t be happening this year around our house. No time to get that together.

Trunk or treat is where everyone decorates theirs trunks (while opened) and hands out candy that way. Some put them in a circle and let the kids go from trunk to trunk that way, or all lined up…it depends. Basically, drive in trick or treat. lol

Our votes are cast too. We went the first day and waited for over an hour. People were very polite to each other, which was nice. I love your mindset! I’m trying to adopt it. Fingers, toes, elbows, knees and whatever else I can cross are crossed!!!!

      1. Yikes – it could get VERY spooky then… in Australia the cost of living is dire, so everyone is in a bad mood… and people seem to think it’s ok to take it out on the people behind the counter who have nothing to do with pricing the goods… it’s quite shameful really. Good luck! xoxox
