So, Incredible Influencer (and fellow firestarter!) Suzanne Craig-Whytock at My Dang Blog premiered her award ceremony today!
(Get the full scoop here: https://educationalmentorship.com/2022/11/06/congratulations-to-us-all/)
Admittedly, I’m one of those people Suzanne Craig-Whytock references in her post. I did an award once or twice an eon ago, but my grumpy-even-at-forty-something self was grumbling something like “Who has time to do this?” and I stopped.
I liked the questions though, and at the tail end of yet another hellish week (and not the fun kind) here in small-town Kansas, I set aside my inner cynic, and decided to participate.
So, yes, I’m awarding myself a Fandangly award because I’ve been doing the “Tarot Cards for Writing Inspiration” posts over at Horror Tree for almost two years now! That’s probably among the longest I’ve stuck with anything (Thanks, Horror Tree peeps!), including geographical locations! (Well, New Mexico would have reached the four-year mark, except combining COVID shutdown with a lack of internet availability prompted a relocation.)
Without further ado, here’s my answers to My Dang Blog‘s great award questions!
1) Who is your favourite drag queen and if you were a drag queen, what would your name be?
For my favourite drag queen, I’ll resort to picking one from my hometown, the “hostess-with-the-mostest” of Drag Queen Bingo and many other great events: Beneva Fruitville! https://benevafruitville.com/
And I have to admit, I’m more of a behind-the-scenes stage manager type rather than someone who likes to be in the spotlight. So, I think my non-drag-queen name would be “Honey-could-you-bring-me-another-cup-of-tea?” and I would do so while reminding them the show goes up in five.

2) Which customer at work creeps you out the most?
Well, I work from home, so I don’t really come into close contact with any creepy customers. In any case, my cats would definitely nominate me, especially when I’m a little stiff and I get up from my chair and start lurching around the house. “OMG, the monster is back. Everybody run and hide! I’ll hold them off!”–Cat Warrior Goddess Moon Pie

3) Have you set fire to anything lately?
I successfully managed NOT to set fire to the neighbourhood during the drought (Yes, I thought of you, Suzanne, for sure! My weird sense of humour was all like “Wouldn’t it be funny if I set fire to the neighbourhood, too?”) while doing a by-flickering-candlelight ritual curse protection ritual against the VBNs (very bad neighbours)! But indoors? Absolutely! I’m on a complete burning-food kick. Most recently, I let the water boil out on a pot of pasta and it set off the smoke alarm and scorched the bottom of the pan and everything. Sigh. That’s what I get for trying to make a series of impossible things happen in a short period of time. Double sigh.

Random Turkey Trivia: The poop of turkey is shaped differently depending on the gender of the turkey. Males have J-shaped poop and females have coil-shaped poop.
Are you as fascinated by turkeys as I am? Check out my short story called “Two Smart Turkeys” in the Whodunit anthology! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58927365-whodunit
Well, that is certainly a bit of turkey trivia previously unknown to me! 😉
Love these questions! My favourite drag queen is Lawrence Chaney who won Drag Race UK last year. Very funny. And my computer set itself on fire a few weeks ago, which wasn’t funny at all.
Wait, what? The computer caught fire?!?!? Goodness, what happened?
I’ve no idea! I was about to unplug it before I went out, when smoke and sparks and little flames started coming out . It stopped when I unplugged it, but there was no way I could use it again – I’ve had to get a new one. Luckily the hard drive wasn’t affected, so my work was safe. I’m glad I didn’t go out without unplugging it (like I sometimes do) or it could have set the house on fire. I still don’t know what caused it, and the computer repair man didn’t know either, he just knew it couldn’t be repaired. I reckon some kind of naughty elemental was fooling around with it – a salamander maybe!
Wow, I’m so glad your hard drive survived. Maybe we should start a “fiery womyn’s” club. LOL!
I’m so glad you haven’t set fire to anything recently.:-)
Actually, that’s fascinating about turkey poop. I had no idea!
Isn’t it, though? 🙂 Turkeys are really cool!
Well done and congratulations on your Fandangly! I hereby dub you Honey Cuppatee!
Ha, that’s great! A toast to the always fabulous Mabel Syrup!
I think I must be living too sheltered a life. I don’t have a favorite drag queen, can’t recall a time when I was creeped out, and haven’t set fire to anything other than maybe a marshmallow on the end of a stick for many years. Fun to think about though.
I think you can make up your own questions, according to the blogger!
By the way, I’m passing on your Turkey Trivia to a friend/artist who’s been working through some rather farcical Turkey trauma in her recent watercolors.
Ah, are they painting turkeys? Sounds like fun!
Yes after a wild turkey attack. 🙂
Oh goodness…
I love all animals but every so often I get a little spooked by bigger birds… I try not to show it though…their feelings might be hurt…
Yeah, wild turkeys should be given a wide berth! They can be quite aggressive! Hope they’re okay.
She’s fine. This happened a while ago and she wasn’t hurt but definitely shaken up and it’s been fun see the art she’s produced as a result.
I wonder if the turkey was as scared by the encounter as your friend…
I’d love to see the turkey art when/if it’s shared somewhere!
Congrats on the Fandangly! Haven’t seen any blog awards floating around in several years now. It used to be a lot of work if you got nominated for one – I like “no strings attached” approach. Drag Queen names are so creative……I like Brooke Lynn Hytes! Thanks for the info on turkey poop – how interesting that males and females add their own creative touch to doin’ their business.
Hugs, Pam
Ha! Yeah, I liked the option as to where you could just make up your own questions, or recycle the ones that Suzanne did!
ROFLMAO! I loved seeing Moon Pie…the difficult “customer” that she is. lol
And the Turkey Trivia…interesting! Like, who knew? Well, you and now the rest of us thanks to you sharing. What a way to start a Monday! Thanks!
Yes, she is the feistiest fluff-ball of them all! She’s got some smarty characteristics that actually remind me more of a crow the way she figures things out!
We also have a wall of Chewy boxes! Our cats sleep on top of them even without a bed! 😀
Ha, yeah, I think Moon Pie is happy that I started packing up again, and she has her towers back!
Chaplin: “It’s true, we sleep on the boxes without a bed, but if someone were to put a box on the bed we would not complain.”
Charlee: “Hint hint.”
Ha, that bed is one of those self-warming ones (it’s not a plug-in one)…I think I got it from Chewy’s at one point quite a few years back! The kitty entourage over here loves it, Chaplin and Charlee!
Great answers! My cats are my co-workers too haha
I stopped participating in award blogs several eons ago. Too time-consuming. Thanks for the follow 🙂
Love your answers!
Thanks!
I agree!
